About the programme

What you will study

The Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) program at BIP is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in pharmaceutical sciences and healthcare. The two-year course combines theoretical study with extensive practical training, helping students understand the formulation, preparation, and dispensing of medicines.

Students gain insight into drug action, quality control, pharmacology, and patient care — ensuring they become skilled professionals ready to serve in hospitals, community pharmacies, and the pharmaceutical industry. The program also serves as a stepping stone for higher studies like B.Pharm or M.Pharm.

The D.Pharm curriculum covers core areas such as Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, and Pharmacology, preparing students for roles in community pharmacies, hospitals, and the pharmaceutical industry.

Career opportunities

  • Registered Pharmacists in retail or hospital settings
  • Pharmaceutical production or quality control assistants
  • Medical representatives or drug safety associates
  • Researchers, or pursue higher education in pharmacy

The Diploma in Pharmacy is the only programme Banaras Institute of Pharmacy is approved to run. Graduates commonly continue to B.Pharm or M.Pharm elsewhere, and our faculty advise students on that route during the final year.
